Maternity or Pregnancy Leave: 18 weeks (after 13 weeks of employment)

Parental Leave (available to either parent): 34 weeks (if pregnancy leave taken) / 37 weeks (if pregnancy leave not taken) - After 13 weeks of employment
Adoption - 37 weeks (after 13 weeks of employment)

Bereavement: 5 days (Employees with three months of continuous service or more are entitled to five unpaid days of bereavement leave for the death of an immediate family member. The leave must be taken within one week before or after the funeral.)

Compassionate/ Family Care/ Responsibility: 


Employees with min 13 weeks of service -
Critically ill child: 37 weeks
Disappearance of a Child Leave: 52 weeks
Child's death as a result of crime: 104 weeks


Sick Leave: Employees with 13 weeks of service cannot have their employment terminated because of an absence due to illness or injury of the employee or a dependent family member. If the illness or injury is serious the employee is entitled to unpaid leave for 12 weeks in a 52-week period. If the illness or injury is not serious the employee is allowed 12 days in a calendar year.
