British Columbia - '35 or 37 weeks
Alberta - '62 weeks - Birth and adoptive parents can take up to 62 weeks of unpaid parental leave.
Saskatchewan - 34 weeks (if pregnancy leave taken) / 37 weeks (if pregnancy leave not taken) - After 13 weeks of employment Adoption - 37 weeks (after 13 weeks of employment)
Manitoba - 37 weeks after 7 months of employment
Ontario - 61 weeks if pregnancy leave taken / 63 weeks if pregnancy leave not taken
Quebec - 32 weeks or 25 weeks Under QPIP: Choosing special plan increases benefit amount but decreases the time period of the claim. Paternity leave totals 5 weeks under the basic and 3 weeks under the special plan. Parental leave totals 32 weeks under the basic plan and 25 weeks under special plan.
Newfoundland and Labrador - '35 weeks after 20 weeks of employment
New Brunswick - '37 weeks (35 weeks if maternity leave is taken)
Nova Scotia - '35 or 52 weeks after 1 year of employment Maximum combined pregnancy/parental leave is 52 weeks. The longer period of parental leave applies if maternity/pregnancy leave is not taken.
PEI - 35 weeks after 20 weeks of employment, adoption 52 weeks weeks after 20 weeks of employment Maximum combined pregnancy/parental leave is 52 weeks. In PE, an extension of 5 weeks is available if child has condition requiring parental care.
NWT - 37 weeks after 12 months of employment (35 weeks if maternity leave is taken) Maximum combined pregnancy/parental leave is 52 weeks. The longer period of parental leave applies if maternity/pregnancy leave is not taken.
Yukon - 37 weeks after 12 months
Nunavut - '35 or 37 weeks after 12 months of employment Maximum combined pregnancy/parental leave is 52 weeks. The longer period of parental leave applies if maternity/pregnancy leave is not taken.
